No Longer A Routine

What do you think about routines?  Helpful, not helpful? Where I find routines helpful is on things that I “like” to do.  Because things I “have” to do gets done one way or another, and those things become “habits” more so than the routines.

If I don’t set up a routine for the things I “like” to do, it is more likely that I will replace it with something that “need”s to be done.  After all, there are only so many hours in the day.  As a working mom, I am reminded of that EVERY day!

The biggest challenge with a routine is that it requires discipline, consistency and repetition to set it on its path.  Contrary, it is as easy as missing it ONCE to loose it, to get it off the path.  That’s exactly what happened over the summer with my blog.  I skipped one month, talking myself into “this is summer break”.  And now three months later, I am trying to set that routine back up with this blog.  Believe me, it is not easy when my “have to” list already filled up the hours of my days.

Workouts are a great example of these routines that can be dropped SO easily and re-started SO hard.  When it comes to setting up the workout routine, it all begins with making the FIRST attempt knowing that soreness will be your main challenge for the SECOND time.  It is also critical to start at a lower level than what it was before.  Letting the muscles know that it is time to wake up is the first step of the routine. After that step, we move to the hardest one and it is: to hang on.

Since “routines” have been in my mind all this month, I was able to use it as one of my Train and Smile themes.  We ended up using a “coat hanger” and had a great fun.

Check out this class and let me know if it helps you to “hang on” to your workout routine.

My intention with my blog is to backfill the summer months so that I can provide you with more workouts to try.  However, I will not let “backfilling” to stop me from making my blogs a routine going forward.

If at any point in time you need my help to jump into that “workout” routine, let me know.  I can first send you a big HIGH FIVE and then figure out ways to create the consistency to make strength training a healthy routine.

Thank YOU for following me…
